Now Continuing

Contrary to what I said in an earlier post, I will be continuing to post chapters online until the first book is finished. After the first book is finished, there will be no more chapters posted to this site, except perhaps a teaser chapter here or there.

Recently, I have reconsidered a piece of advice I received several months ago concerning the time span in between Merlin arriving at Atlantis and the Fall of Atlantis. I came to the conclusion that the chapter I threw in there between them simply doesn't belong, and has been removed from the final document and this blog as well. Instead, I will be posting several new chapters that fit neatly in between, of which about 10,000 words are completed. When I'm finished, I'm expecting the new section will be between 20,000 and 30,000 words, closer to the previous.

This new section deals with something that I have only fleetingly mentioned in the story so far: the war with Vortigern. In the chapter "Aftermath of the Fall", Uther mentioned war with the Saxons was inevitable, and earlier in the chapter "The True Heirs" it was said that the Saxons were allied with Uther and Aurelianus. Due to some changes, this is no longer so, and this re-write below from the chapter should explain. It starts with Merlin speaking.

"If you don't mind me asking, who are you? Why did you save me? Why did you betray Vortigern? Was the battle caused by you"? And who's your brother and how did he get a castle when Vortigern is the king?" fired Merlin.

"My, my, my, aren't you inquisitive. Anyhow, I suppose yeh do deserve some answers. After all, I saved yeh from death and told yeh to follow me without explanation. Me name is Uther, third and youngest son of King Constantine II of Britannia. I saved yeh because I saw the so called stick yeh carried. It's a wand. Yeh can't fool me by a change in clothing. Also, I didn't betray Vortigern; I was a spy for my brother, and the battle was my doing, at least partly. Yeh see, Vortigern was a fool and let the Saxons settle in Britannia. The Saxons, though, didn't think them were given enough land, and Vortigern, being the idiot he is, refused the Saxons. So them tricked him and sweet talked him into giving more land, and here we are now, the Saxons at war with Vortigern now that them are strong enough to declare war and win, and them will win too with Vortigern commanding his army.. So I gathered together a bunch of men and them became me army just in case something like today happened.

As you can see above, Vortigern seems now to be at war with the Saxons. Why? Well, for that, you'll have to read the new chapters being posted, one a day until they have all been posted up to where I am currently. However, several other changes have been made, which are listed below.

  • Two chapters have been deleted: The First Battle, and the prologue.
  • A revised version of the chapter "The Fall", which will describe the Fall as more of a battle than a flee is coming soon.
